The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has officially launched the 10,000 women in mobility programme.
The initiative aims to empower 10,000 women across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by providing them with access to vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles.
The goal is to encourage more women to participate in transportation, logistics, delivery services, and other mobility-related businesses, thereby enhancing their economic involvement and financial independence.
During the launch and distribution of vehicles to the beneficiaries on Saturday, Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, emphasized the necessity of creating economic opportunities for women to ensure their creditworthiness and financial success.
She mentioned that the pilot phase in Abuja successfully provided mobility assets to 1,000 women and that the program will be expanded nationwide to benefit 10,000 participants.
She praised CREDICORP’s Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, for his dedication to promoting inclusive access to consumer credit and for leading initiatives that turn policy into real economic opportunities for women.
The minister highlighted that the program demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to dismantling structural barriers that hinder women’s involvement in vital economic sectors.
Furthermore, she pointed out that by allowing women to own and manage mobility assets, the initiative not only fosters sustainable livelihoods but also helps establish credible financial histories that can facilitate future access to credit.

In an interview with reporters, she emphasized that empowering women economically has a ripple effect on families and communities, contributing to broader national development.
She stated that “it’s an economic empowerment. It’s about how much they drive it and the hours they invest. No economic effort is insignificant.
“The president aims for a $1 trillion economy, and we have united across sectors to activate economic opportunities and include women.
“Since women make up over 50 percent of the population and are active in various sectors, we want to enhance their participation so that it creates value not just for them and their families, but for the entire country.”
Earlier, Uzoma Nwagba, Managing Director of CREDICORP, described the program as a practical measure to enhance financial inclusion and strengthen Nigeria’s consumer credit ecosystem.
He explained that CREDICORP is collaborating with key partners to provide financing, asset supply, training, and business support, ensuring that beneficiaries not only access credit but also succeed in their mobility ventures.
He assured that the agency would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the program’s success, transparency, and sustainability across the country.
