The Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun State will today commence the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver involved in the fatal road accident that claimed the lives of Latif Ayodele, personal trainer to boxing star Anthony Joshua, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach.
Kayode is facing four charges bordering on dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a valid national driver’s licence.
The incident occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, where the victims reportedly lost their lives following a collision allegedly caused by excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking.

At his arraignment, the court granted the defendant bail at ₦5 million, with two sureties, and adjourned the case to January 20, 2026, for trial.
Journalists and legal practitioners have already gathered at the court premises in Sagamu, awaiting the commencement of proceedings in the case, which has attracted public attention due to the international profile of the deceased persons.
