Controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has been brought before a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, facing charges of car theft and assault.
Portable appeared in court on Monday, facing nine criminal charges, including assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
These charges were confirmed by Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi on Tuesday.
The singer’s court appearance followed the release of a viral video on Sunday, showing him in police custody, stemming from a complaint allegedly made by his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.
The prosecution claims that Portable assaulted Ashabi and several others, including police officers, at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area on New Year’s Day.
The charges also named other victims, including Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Additionally, Portable is accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at approximately N12 million, which reportedly belongs to Ileyemi Damilola and is associated with a car dealer named Wally Dex Auto.
During the court proceedings, two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified as witnesses to the alleged assault, while Ashabi herself did not attend.
The police also claimed that Portable assaulted and obstructed a female police officer, Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.

The judge presiding over the case denied the musician bail, stating that the assaulted police officer’s presence in court was essential for any bail decision.
Consequently, Portable was remanded in custody, with his bail hearing postponed to January 19.
In the meantime, the Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into another viral video that appears to show the singer being assaulted while in police custody.
