A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, along with his wife and son.
On Wednesday, Justice Emeka Nwite set the bail amount at ₦500 million for each of the defendants.
The judge mandated that each defendant must present two sureties who own a property in the Asokoro, Maitama, or Gwarinpa Districts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Justice Nwite also instructed that the sureties must provide valid property documents, which will be verified by the court’s deputy chief registrar.
Additionally, the sureties are required to submit affidavits proving their financial capability.
The court further ordered Malami and the other defendants to surrender their international passports and any other travel documents to the court.
They were also cautioned against traveling outside the country without the court’s permission.
The defendants are facing trial for alleged money laundering charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Nwite postponed the case to a later date for the continuation of the trial.
