A Magistrate Court in Ekiti State has granted human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi bail set at N30 million.
Farotimi arrived at the court on December 20, 2024, accompanied by heavy security.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun presided over the bail application, imposing several conditions for Farotimi’s release.
He said the defendant must provide two sureties and leave his international passport with the court. Additionally, Farotimi is prohibited from giving media interviews while the case is ongoing.

Farotimi had been remanded in prison custody on December 7, 2024, after being charged on 16 counts of criminal defamation related to the publication of his book: “Nigeria and its criminal justice system.”
