The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Council, Mr Tosin Olokun, has placed a restriction on the operational hours of motorcycle and tricycle riders in the town.
Olokun gave the order on Friday in Odo-Ere, after a meeting with the leadership of the Motorcycle and Tricycle Riders Association operating in the council.
He said the meeting was convened as part of the measures to strengthen security and curb criminal activities often facilitated under the cover of darkness using motorcycles and tricycles.
Olokun said that the meeting was attended by security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police Force, Kogi State Vigilante Service, and the Local Government Hunters.

“Following deliberations and in the collective interest of public safety, the Local Government has officially placed a restriction on the operational hours of motorcycle and tricycle riders within town limits.
“Henceforth, all commercial motorcycle and tricycle activities within town are restricted to between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily, due to extenuating circumstances.
“However, recognising the transportation needs of those residing in interior communities, riders commuting into the town from rural areas have been granted a grace period up to 7:30 p.m. to conclude their activities.
“This directive takes immediate effect, and strict enforcement measures have been put in place. Any rider found violating these time restrictions will be apprehended and prosecuted according to existing laws,” he said.
Olokun also assured the public of the council’s commitment to fostering a safe, peaceful, and orderly environment for businesses and daily life across Yagba West.
