Apostle Dr. John Okoriko, founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, has voiced deep concerns about how corruption has stunted Nigeria’s development, affecting all sectors of society, including religious institutions. Speaking at the monthly Interactive Service held at Life Tabernacle in Eket, Apostle Okoriko emphasized that corruption has seeped into every aspect of Nigerian life, hindering the nation’s progress.
During his address, Apostle Okoriko answered questions from online participants on the theme, “Forces Barring Humans from Acquiring Divine Nature with Ease.” He revealed that even the word of God has been distorted by some churches, leading to spiritual and social decay. “Corruption has become a formidable force that undermines progress in both the church and Nigeria as a nation,” he said.
Apostle Okoriko stressed that lack of love fuels hatred, which in turn leads to conflicts, wars, and widespread corruption. He explained that true faith can foster love and bring people closer to God, but corruption has distorted the original message. “Hatred has found its way into the church because the original message of God has been tainted by corruption,” Okoriko lamented.

Drawing from biblical teachings, Apostle Okoriko argued that food and material desires often compromise people’s faith. Referencing the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who refused to eat “corrupt food” and were protected in the fiery furnace, he stressed the importance of unwavering faith. “People often blame witches or external forces, but even in ancient Babylon, the three Hebrew boys maintained their divine nature and overcame challenges without harm,” he said.
Quoting 2 Peter 1:4, Apostle Okoriko noted that corruption is rampant in politics, the economy, and even religious institutions. He recalled how Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus, showing that greed and corruption have long been issues within the church. “If Christians and Muslims were in harmony with the word of God, we would see an end to famine, crisis, and wars,” Okoriko affirmed.
