The outgoing Commandant, Nigeria Naval Collage (NNC), Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers, Rear Admiral Haruna Zego has expressed confidence in the country’s defence capabilities.
Zego who spoke at the send forth in his honour at the college on Sunday said that Nigeria had the technical competencies and human resources to surmount the current security challenges.
He said that although the nation was facing volatile and complex security challenges, the military had the right approach and innovations to tackle them.
The outgoing commandant commended past leaderships of the college for their efforts towards promoting value addition for cadets and officers of the institution.
Zego who assumed office in February as the 25th commandant of the college, said that he used his ten months stay on the saddle to groom officers.
“The essence is to equip them to convincingly combat the security challenges facing the nation,” he said.

The naval officer said that the college successfully conducted leadership and management programmes for 120 Sub-Lieutenants between July and September.
“The collage also provided a technical course for 104 cadets from the Nigerian Defence Academy to further strengthen the country’s security viability.
“This land-based operational strategy exposed cadets to contemporary operational challenges, and prepared them to confront asymmetric warfare challenges.
“From feedbacks, I take pride to say that these young officers who benefited from these strategic trainings are doing well in their respective units,”he enthused.
