•It will enhance staff effectiveness – Provost
College of Education (COE) Warri has held the maiden edition of staff training to boost staff commitments, dedication, and professionalism in discharging their duties in the institution.
The workshop tagged “Administrative Procedures, Work Ethical Practices and Professionalism for Staff” and organised by Mrs Christine Aluyi, Registrar of COE, is to help increase the work efficiency of the staff of the institution through seamless processes.
Aluyi, in her statement, divulged that it has always been her vision to boost staff productivity through intensive training and retraining even before she became the helmswoman of the Registry Department.
According to her, the training will equip staff, who are lacking in knowledge of administrative procedures, work ethics and also help build a stronger and more effective workforce in the institution.
Aluyi further appreciated the Provost of the institution, Dr D.O. Oyovwi, Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education Nigeria (SSUCOEN), and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the College for providing the support needed to ensure the maiden edition of the training was successful.
Earlier, the Provost of College of Education (COE) Warri, Dr Dickson Oyovwi, while declaring the workshop open, stated that workshops are always a welcome development because they go a long way to enhance workers’ effectiveness.
According to him, the lackadaisical attitude of staff towards pieces of resourceful training and workshops has had little or no impact on their productivity.
He further appealed to all the participants of the programme to take the training seriously to enhance their resourcefulness and effectiveness in discharging their duties henceforth, The Trumpet gathered.
Meanwhile, the highly resourceful workshop allowed the participants to learn how to write good memos, reports, letters, and minutes. It also exposed the participants to processes of documentation, types of records, characteristics of effective record keeping, methods of safe records, and information management.

Consequently, the Guest Speaker, Dr T. B. Igwebuike, who delivered a quality lecture to elucidate participants on the need to be abreast with administrative models, asserted that workforce effectiveness is a resultant effect of staff resourcefulness.
Other speakers, who spoke in the workshop, were Mr Ken Etoroma, (SDR) Establishment; Mr Alfred Omajugho, (SDR) Academic; Mr Frank Efemimi, (DR) Student Affairs. Dr T.B Igwebuike, a retired Academic Staff of the College, is a seasoned Academic, Consultant in education, leadership, and research.
