The COAS gave the directive on Thursday while declaring closed, the First Senior Command and Leadership Seminar organized by the Army Headquarters Department of Training in Jos. Adding that the support of the critical stakeholders and the general public is very crucial to the success of military operations. The Trumpet gathered

The 3-day seminar targeted commanders in the Army’s higher echelon, including General Officers Commanding (GOC) and Brigade Commanders.

The COAS, who was represented by the Commander, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Maj Gen Suleiman Idris noted that the seminar elicited keen deliberations on the multifaceted nature of current security threats and the need to adopt multi-disciplinary cum national approach through cooperation, collaboration and synergy.

He further pointed out, that the seminar highlighted the necessity to integrate activities across the entire conflict spectrum, underscoring the compelling need for synergy and inter-agency collaboration.

The COAS urged the participants to evolve measures that would ensure adherence to the dictates of responsible and professional soldiering. He also encouraged them to put the knowledge acquired from the seminar into practice in their formations and units through training and re-training of personnel for optimal performance.

Earlier, while declaring the 3-day seminar open, Gen Yahaya stated that the Nigerian Army is striving to meet the security expectations of all Nigerians by providing a safe and secure environment for the socio-economic development of the nation.

The COAS observed that the kinetic efforts of troops across theatres of operations are yielding tremendous results. Adding that warfare has transcended beyond the traditional method to cyber and media methods.

He said, “with the transcension of conflicts beyond the traditional warfare to cyber and media warfare, there is the need to equally invest efforts in imbuing senior leadership of the Army with requisite skills to manage the complexities of the non-kinetic dimension of operations.”

He charged commanders to actively engage other stakeholders in the society and strengthen synergy with sister services and security agencies to achieve the common goal of securing the country. Gen Yahaya expressed appreciation to the Commander in Chief, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his untiring support and strategic guidance to the Nigerian Army in the efforts to execute its constitutional roles.

While welcoming the participants to the event, the GOC 3 Division, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali, expressed optimism that the seminar would allow participants to build on their individual capacities and contribute meaningfully towards the enhancement of Nigerian Army operations.

On his part, the Chief of Training (Army), Maj Gen Abdulsalam Ibrahim, while addressing the participants, said that the non-kinetic line of operations is essential in tackling contemporary security challenges.

He added that the operation is currently being reviewed to provide the Nigerian Army with the impetus needed to meet its constitutional mandate.

In another development, the COAS commissioned a Transit Accommodation and Officers’ Mess facilities undertaken by GOC 3 Division, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

According to the GOC, the completed projects will serve to alleviate the dearth of accommodation and provide recreational opportunities for personnel in the Cantonment.
