Nigerians have been urged to embrace farming and investment as powerful tools to combat the nation’s ongoing economic challenges. The heartfelt appeal came from Bishop Harrison Obiogho of the Light of the World Mission Church during the church’s 2024 end-of-year convention held at The Light City, Eghwu Town, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State.

Speaking under the convention’s theme, “Glory to Glory,” Bishop Obiogho described the theme as a divine revelation meant to inspire hard work and self-reliance among Nigerians as they prepare for 2025.

Highlighting the significance of agriculture, he emphasized that farming is not just a survival tactic but a pathway to achieving economic freedom and reducing hunger.

“There’s no denying that hunger is a major issue in our country,” he said. “But we must rise above it through farming and investment. We cannot continue to consume without producing. Farming is a critical step toward self-sufficiency and economic growth,” he added.

Drawing inspiration from Numbers 14:21 in the Bible, which states, “But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD,” Bishop Obiogho connected the scripture to the need for Nigerians to prioritize sustainable livelihoods and self-reliance instead of depending solely on government interventions.

In a bid to empower individuals, Bishop Obiogho revealed that the church has provided scholarships, financial aid, and other forms of support to help alleviate immediate hardships. However, he stressed that such assistance must be matched with personal effort, particularly in productive endeavors like farming.

“Our mission is to empower people to recognize and seize the opportunities around them,” he explained. “Whether you are into farming, trading, or running a business, God’s glory will shine on your efforts if they are rooted in hard work and honesty.”

The clergyman also called on Nigerians to adopt a mindset of self-sufficiency, emphasizing that hard work and strategic investments are essential for overcoming economic hardships.

“My prayer for 2025 is that God will bless the works of your hands and elevate you from glory to glory. Let every action you take be guided by righteousness and a commitment to uplifting humanity,” he concluded.
