Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has directed its members to suspend further capturing of cargoes and payment of duties due to constant network malfunctioning and serial failure of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) server.
Acting President of ANLCA, Dr. Kayode Farinto, in a correspondence to members of the association, at the weekend, noted that the server failure was causing astronomical increases in duty payment on imported vehicles.
“We noticed on Friday, August 12, 2022 that there is a systems error on Customs’ portal to the extent that when you make declarations, it was giving outrageous and astronomical duty payable.

I have contacted the Nigeria Customs headquarters in Abuja and they confirmed that they were having challenges with their system, hence I advise our members that if they have not made declarations on their jobs, they should kindly wait till Monday (today).
He said the NCS has assured those who have already made assessment of their cargoes, at all area commands would be given access to cancel such declarations, adding: “Please let us kindly bear with them till the challenge is sorted out on or before Monday (today).
