President Bola Tinubu has formally sworn in General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s Defence Minister, marking a significant step towards reforming the nation’s security framework.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, just one day after Musa received Senate approval following a five-hour evaluation.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga posted a photo on his X account showing Musa taking the oath of office, officially marking the start of his ministerial responsibilities.

On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed General Christopher Musa (rtd) as Nigeria’s new Defence Minister.
His confirmation came after an extensive five-hour session in which Senators conducted thorough questioning and assessment.
President Bola Tinubu had previously nominated Musa to take over from Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who resigned from the position due to health issues.
During his screening, Musa pledged to adopt a strict zero-tolerance policy towards banditry and terrorism once he assumed office.
