Friday Omosola

As Christmas celebration begins across the globe, a non-governmental organisation, Oba Kolapo Adedoyin Foundation (OKAF), has put smiles on the faces of hundreds of aged residents of Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State, in the spirit of Christmas celebrations.

This is coming barely 3 months after the foundation was launched and it donates an inestimable number of writing materials to indigent students of the ancient town.

The beneficiaries of the recent empowerment who were chiefly aged men and widows were empowered with food items which include: rice, beans, garri, and liquid soap.

Speaking at the event, the Owa-Ale of Ikareland, Oba Adeleke Adefemi Adegbite-Adedoyin II, said the gesture was in continuation of the good deeds of his late father, Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite-Adedoyin, who had contributed immensely to humanity.

Late Oba. Kolapo joined his ancestors last year at the age of 85 after reigning for 48 years.

Oba Adeleke Adedoyin noted that the decision to aid the beneficiaries with the “surprise package” was borne out of sheer magnanimity aimed at extricating the less privileged from the miasma of poverty.

The Owa-Ale, however, urged residents to be law-abiding and toe the line of peace, adding that efforts are on top gears to transmogrify the community.

In the same vein, the erstwhile Regent of Owa-Ale of Ikare-Akoko, Princess Aderinsola Olabisi Adedoyin, said the foundation would not renege on its robust promises to sustain and emplace the inhabitants of the commercial town in comfort.

Also, one of the children of the late monarch and Chairperson of OKAF, Princess Olumide Yomade Neri, stated that the rationale behind the kind gesture was to immortalise and build more on the good legacies left behind by the late Monarch.

The UK-based Princess added that her penchant towards helping the susceptibles in the society gave her the impetus to throw her weight behind the empowerment programme.

She, however, charged the beneficiaries to toe the line of tranquility and reflect the sanctity of the elderly.

However, the recipients of the stimulus package unanimously thanked the foundation for identifying with them during the period of unfriendly economy concomitantly with its attendant effects.
