As Chris Brown kicks off his highly anticipated “Breezy Bowl XX” tour in Miami, the R&B megastar finds himself entangled in fresh legal trouble. Miami-based brand Breezy Swimwear has filed a lawsuit against Brown and his tour promoter, Live Nation, alleging trademark infringement over the use of the name “Breezy Bowl.”

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday, claims that Breezy Swimwear has been operating under the “Breezy” trademark since 2018 and officially launched its “Breezy Bowl” event in 2023 as part of its brand strategy to promote female empowerment. Now, the company alleges that Brown’s use of the same term is causing marketplace confusion and damaging its brand reputation.

Attorney John Hoover, representing Breezy Swimwear, told TMZ Hip Hop that celebrities should not be allowed to overshadow small businesses just because of their fame. “Breezy Swimwear created ‘Breezy Bowl’ right here in Miami. We are asking the court to protect a local brand and eliminate consumer confusion,” Hoover said.

Brown announced his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour earlier in March, a comeback venture that was nearly derailed following his arrest in London on assault charges. Despite legal setbacks, the tour is now live, but the lawsuit threatens to bring more negative attention to the artist, especially in a city where the trademark battle has local roots.

Breezy Swimwear CEO Kris Izquierdo revealed that the brand has used the Instagram handle @BreezyBowl for years to promote its Miami-based events. According to Izquierdo, the company has received multiple messages from confused fans who mistakenly believed Chris Brown was affiliated with their event or might make a surprise appearance.

The swimwear brand is now asking the court for a permanent injunction, including an order to destroy any merchandise produced by Chris Brown or his team that uses the names “Breezy” or “Breezy Bowl.” The company insists the confusion is real and growing, and they believe the star’s involvement could further damage their hard-earned reputation.

While Breezy Swimwear stands its ground in court, neither Chris Brown nor Live Nation has issued an official response to the lawsuit at the time of this report. The legal battle adds an unexpected layer of drama to what was supposed to be a triumphant tour return for one of R&B’s most talked-about performers. As the case unfolds, fans and legal experts alike will be watching closely to see whether the court sides with the homegrown Miami brand or the global superstar.
