Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday, Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, has delivered a message urging parents and society to place children’s welfare at the forefront of family and community priorities. He said this during the Children day celebration event, held at the Oleh Township Stadium, which drew crowds of excited children, parents, educators, and cultural performers.
Speaking during the ceremony on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Warri declared that the well-being, moral values, and cultural upbringing of children must be considered a legacy of immeasurable value. He emphasized that nurturing and safeguarding young minds is not just a civic responsibility but a moral obligation.
“It is a pleasure to witness yet another Children’s Day celebration. This day is one of my favourites of the year, as it affords us the opportunity to honour and cherish the young minds in our various communities,” he said, addressing the crowd.
Warri, who has become known for his grassroots development approach and advocacy for youth empowerment, used the occasion to draw attention to the impact of modern parenting on child development. He urged parents to be mindful of what their children wear and consume in terms of values and entertainment, warning that indecent dressing can erode societal norms and moral balance.
“Our children are our future, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure they receive everything necessary to thrive and succeed,” he noted. “We must raise them with discipline, pride in their culture, and the knowledge that they are the leaders of tomorrow.”
