Super Eagles’ Coach, Eric Chelle, has urged Nigerians to unite in support of the senior national team as they aim for a spot in next year’s World Cup through the African and inter-continental playoffs.
Nigeria is set to play Gabon in the first match of the four-team African playoff, commencing on November 13 in Morocco.
A win in this match will advance the Super Eagles to the crucial playoff game against either DR Congo or Cameroon, who will also compete on November 13.
The victor of the African play- off will join five other teams in Mexico next year to compete for two World Cup spots scheduled to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Looking ahead to a successful run in both tournaments, Chelle recognized the significant challenge facing the Super Eagles, but expressed confidence that his team would thrive with the support of Nigerians.

“We require complete backing from our fans as we face pressure in every match. I have no doubts about this team’s quality, but we need to remain focused, mentally prepared, and united,” he stated.
Regarding the match against Gabon, Chelle emphasized that it is a must-win for Nigeria, adding, “If we secure that victory, we will set our sights on the next one. Our objective is to win all our matches.”
Chelle is expected to take his players to camp in Morocco starting tomorrow, with their first training session scheduled for Monday in Rabat.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will announce the list of players for the campaign today, according to a source at the federation, who mentioned that the NFF and Chelle began preparations for the playoff right after the final game of Group C in the African qualifying series.
