The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFFIB) has issued a public warning to job seekers about fraudulent messages circulating online, claiming that applicants have been shortlisted for employment and requesting payment for “consultancy clearance.”
In one of such messages, unsuspecting applicants are informed that they have been selected after a supposed review of their CVs and are asked to pay ₦1,250 to a “Federal Government Human Resource Consultant” for a posting letter. The scam further promises an appointment letter within two weeks after payment.
However, the CDCFFIB has debunked the claims, stressing that the recruitment portal is still open and accepting applications until Monday, 11th August 2025, and that shortlisting has not yet commenced.

“The recruitment process is absolutely free at all stages,” the board stated. “Applicants should beware of fraudsters and avoid making any payment to anyone in connection with the ongoing recruitment.”
The agency advised members of the public to rely solely on official communication channels for updates and report suspicious messages to law enforcement authorities.
