Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed that he has made the “incredibly difficult decision” to leave the club.
The 28-year-old England international’s contract is set to expire on Monday.
Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United for £1.5 million in 2016 and has netted 71 goals in 273 appearances for the team.
“After nine incredible years, I’ve made the incredibly tough decision alongside my family to start a new chapter in my career,” Calvert-Lewin shared on Instagram.
“This was not a decision I made lightly. Everton has been my home since I was 19. It’s the place that recognized my potential, pushed me to improve, and shaped me as both a footballer and a person.

“I want to thank all the managers and coaches I’ve worked with over the years, as well as my teammates who have become lifelong friends.”
Calvert-Lewin had his best season in 2020-21, scoring 16 goals in 33 Premier League matches and being part of the England squad that reached the Euro final that summer.
However, he faced challenges with injuries and form the following year, starting just over half of the 26 games he played last season.
He has not added to his 11 England caps and four goals since 2021.
Calvert-Lewin continued: “The decision to move on wasn’t just about me; it was a family decision that we took a long time to consider together.
“We believe it’s the right time to pursue a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn’t diminish the bond I will always have with Everton.
“I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, fighting for this club when it mattered most, scoring important goals at crucial times, and wearing the shirt with dedication and pride.
“My hope is that I leave with your respect, knowing I always aimed to uphold the values of this great club.”
In a recent interview with BBC Sport, he mentioned that the past three seasons have been the “most challenging” in Everton’s Premier League history, but he has “led the line” through it.
This leaves Everton in search of a striker ahead of their inaugural season at their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, with reports linking them to Villarreal’s 22-year-old French forward Thierno Barry.
