Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticized the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general polls, Peter Obi, for his inconsistency in political affiliations.
He noted that, apart from Obi, “99.9 percent of political figures in Nigeria have changed parties at least three times.”
Bwala referenced a saying from his father in relation to Obi, stating that “beat them first before you ask them questions.”
He highlighted Obi’s political journey, mentioning that Obi was once with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and had vowed never to leave, even claiming that his family would suffer if he did.

However, Bwala said Obi later transitioned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequently to the Labour Party.
After joining the LP, Obi criticized the PDP, labeling it a “structure of criminality,” suggesting that his motivations are not aligned with the people’s interests.
Bwala further accused Obi of being stingy, claiming he has never donated more than ₦50 million, with dubious circumstances surrounding that amount.
He also recalled Obi’s visit to the North West and North Central after the election, where he remarked that the boreholes funded by Obi were poorly constructed, comparing them to something a café worker would dig, requiring someone to climb and bounce to pump water.
