Governor Mai Mala Buni, of Yobe state, has announced plans to construct roads projects as part of the state’s 2025 budget.
According to him the plan is aimed at boosting accessibility and improving the living standards of residents.
It would be recalled that the governor last week presented the 2025 proposed budget, titled the “Budget of Economic Consolidation and Poverty Reduction,” to the State House of Assembly.
In the proposed budget, the governor revealed plans to construct access roads in all 178 political wards across Yobe State.
Stating that, “This initiative is part of the government’s larger strategy to connect rural and urban communities, easing transportation and promoting economic development.”
The 2025 budget, presented to the Yobe State House of Assembly, was observed to have allocated a substantial portion—N176.774 billion, or 55.1% of the total budget of N320.811 billion—to capital expenditures, with a primary focus on road infrastructure.
Under the capital plan, the Ministry of Works, according to him, will oversee the completion of 17 ongoing road projects and the launch of 11 new ones.
“The government will construct access roads to link all political wards across the state, ensuring that each community is well-connected.” The governor stated.

He also emphasized plans to award the final phase of the Trans-Saharan road project to connect Nguru to Kanamma, an effort that will significantly improve connectivity across Yobe.
Highlighting current road projects, the governor shared that N17 billion has already been allocated to fund major routes, including the Nguru-Bulanguwa, Bulanguwa-Kumagannam, Kukuri-Chikuriwa-Dawasa, and Jaji Maji-Karasuwa roads. The budget, as also made known by him, covers the dualization of the Damaturu-Kalallawa road, a critical artery for the region.
Further projects include completed and ongoing constructions such as the Garin Bingel-Danchuwa road, Bukarti-Toshiya, Fika-Maluri, Danchuwa-Jajere, Kanamma Junction-Yusufari, and Gujba-Ngalda roads. Key rehabilitation efforts are also underway, particularly on the Geidam-Bukarti and Damaturu-Gujba routes.
Additional allocations in the budget are designated for the construction of city gates in Damaturu, township roads and drainage systems in ten local government headquarters, and vital erosion control measures along Gadaka road.
