Governor Mai Mala Buni has unveiled a N515.58 billion budget proposal for Yobe State’s 2026 fiscal year, outlining plans to deepen infrastructure development, modernize healthcare delivery, and enhance educational standards across the state.
Presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation” before the Yobe State House of Assembly, Governor Buni said the proposal aims to “expand opportunities, empower citizens, and strengthen the foundation for long-term growth.”
The 2026 figure represents a significant rise from the N320.81 billion budget of the outgoing year, highlighting the administration’s increased investment in people-oriented projects and economic diversification.
A sectoral breakdown shows N192.13 billion (37.3%) allocated for recurrent expenditure and N323.46 billion (62.7%) for capital projects. According to Buni, the emphasis on capital spending reflects his government’s determination to deliver durable infrastructure covering roads, schools, hospitals, water, power, and agriculture.

“These are projects that touch lives directly,” the governor said. “We are building a healthcare system that our people can trust.”
Buni highlighted the administration’s achievements in education, agriculture, road construction, electricity, and water supply over the past year, assuring that 2026 will consolidate these gains.
Political analysts and community leaders have lauded the proposed budget as bold and people-centered. They commended the governor’s continued focus on social welfare and infrastructure, describing the plan as a reflection of “responsible and visionary leadership.”
