Governor Mai Mala Buni, of Yobe state, has announced that his government will closely monitor the implementation of the N1.4 billion Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) program recently approved by the State Executive Council.

The initiative, as gathered by The Trumpet, is aimed at providing financial relief to victims of flooding and other vulnerable groups across the state.

Buni, who stated this yesterday in the state, emphasized that strict oversight measures will be put in place to ensure that only genuine beneficiaries receive the aid.

“The government will ensure that the 25,500 identified beneficiaries are truly victims who fall within the deserving category,” Buni stated.

Adding that, the program is intended to provide much-needed assistance to those affected by natural disasters and other hardships in the state.

The state Executive Council, led by governor Buni, recently approved the N1.4 billion relief package during its last meeting on Monday.

Under the program, each of the 25,500 beneficiaries will receive N50,000 in cash support. The beneficiaries include 1,500 people from each of the state’s 17 local government areas.

In order to ensure transparency and proper identification of beneficiaries, the government has enlisted the help of traditional institutions, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and women and youth groups for community engagement.

Buni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting victims of disasters in the state.

“We are dedicated to providing succor to all deserving victims to give them a true sense of belonging.” He stated.

He also tasked the officials with the responsibility of implementing the program to carry out their duties with fairness and objectivity, ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
