A building under construction has collapsed at Agarawu Street, off Aroloya Central Mosque, near the Idumota Bus Stop on Lagos Island.
It was learnt that the incident happened on Sunday afternoon.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
Oke-Osanyintolu stated that distress calls were received through the emergency toll-free lines at 1:44 pm, prompting the activation of the state’s emergency response plan.

“LASEMA’s Shark Response Team from the Lekki base arrived at the scene at 2:16 pm,” the statement read.
According to preliminary reports, the structure, a one-storey building still under construction, collapsed unexpectedly.
The immediate cause of the collapse remains unknown, but further investigations have been promised to determine both the direct and underlying factors responsible.
Rescue efforts led to the successful evacuation of two adult males, both rescued alive. No fatalities or additional injuries were reported.
LASEMA coordinated the operation alongside key emergency stakeholders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), and the police.
