Delta State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elder Omeni Sobotie, has urged members of the party to strengthen unity, build alliances, and open their doors to new entrants as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Sobotie gave the charge on Wednesday when members of the Ughelli South Political Colonels, a political pressure group within the APC, paid him a familiarisation visit at the party’s state secretariat in Asaba.
He said the APC’s victory at both state and federal levels depends on cooperation and inclusiveness, adding that “no man prevails by the number of enemies he has; men prevail by the number of friends they are able to make.”
He dismissed the notion of segregation between old and new members, saying all loyalists enjoy equal rights in the APC.

He said, “In the APC of old and the APC of today, all rights and privileges of old members remain valid and accessible to the new members. So, the question of being a new or old member does not arise.”
Describing the APC as divinely favoured, Sobotie said the opposition in Delta State had become weak and disorganized, stressing that any attempt to challenge the ruling party in 2027 “will be like running into a brick wall.”
He added: “The government is like an elephant, too big for one man to slaughter and feed upon. We have two governments at our disposal, one in Abuja headed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and another here in Asaba under our able governor.”
The APC chairman commended the Ughelli South Political Colonels for their loyalty and commitment to the party’s success, expressing confidence that their mobilization efforts would help deliver massive votes for the APC. “I pray that as you forge ahead, you will rise from being Colonels to Generals in your political journey,” he said.
Earlier, Chairman of the group, Olorogun John Ewenode, said the visit was to formally introduce the group to the party leadership and reaffirm their loyalty.
“We are here to identify with the state leadership of our great party and assure you of our total commitment to the unity and victory of the APC,” Evwenode stated, pledging to “deliver Ughelli South 100 percent for the APC come 2027.”
