President Muhammadu Buhari has said he is looking forward to the expiration of his tenure in 2023, so as to handover governance to his successor and return to his farming business.
The President made the remark while marking his 79th birthday at Istanbul, Turkey on Friday. He added that he was not expecting any form of celebration while at Turkey for his official assignment on behalf of the country.
While appreciating God for another birthday, Buhari, however noted that before leaving office in 2023, he shall continue to carry out his duties as prescribed by the Constitution, prioritize the interest of the country and do his best to advance the nation and its people.

“I had thought that being away from Abuja, I will escape a celebration. The Guards Brigade had written to tell me what they wanted to do on this day. Now here we, far away in Turkey, and I still didn’t escape.
“I look forward to 2023 when I finish my tenure, to go home to take charge of my farm. Between now and that time, I will do the best that is possible to advance the interest of the nation and its people, and carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution.
“I thank the Almighty God for this day. Now the work continues!,’ Buhari stated.
