BUA Group has dismissed claims that its 200,000 barrels-per-day Akwa Ibom refinery project is 90% complete, labeling such reports as false and not emanating from the company. In an official statement issued on January 4, 2025, the group clarified that while the refinery is not yet at 90% completion, the construction is progressing steadily and remains on track to meet delivery timelines in collaboration with project partners.
The BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals project represents a significant milestone in boosting Nigeria’s refining capacity and strengthening the nation’s energy security. The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and advised the public to verify updates through official channels to avoid being misled by unverified reports.
