The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (BSCSC)has thrown its weight in support of the state government’s plans to privatize the state-owned companies.

The Commission in its 31st plenary session, which took place yesterday at its conference hall in Bauchi, agreed with the policy and plans of privatization.

Doing this, as unanimously agreed by them, will create job opportunities for teeming unemployed youths spread across the state.

Chairman of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who presided over the plenary session, said most of the companies that the government intends to privatize are currently moribund.

According to him, it’s better to privatize them than to remain incapacitated, adding that the exercise will enable them to be run profitably, generate revenue and boost the economy of the state.

The commission, as further stated by him, is convinced that the state government will bring in people, who have the financial and managerial capability, to resuscitate the ailing companies in the state.

Visibly elated by the state government’s initiative, he added that the days when graduates from the state roamed about the street seeking for jobs are on the verge of becoming a thing of the past.

The state government, as affirmed by the commission, “has opened another opportunity to reduce unemployment in our dear Bauchi state.”

Other persons from the state, who spoke with The Trumpet, believed that the privatization if diligently executed, would go a long way in addressing the unemployment challenges bedevilling the state.

They were also of the view that the exercise, if not politicised, would help in reducing crime to the barest minimum in Bauchi.
