Brigade commander seeks synergy in addressing insecurity in Adamawa

The Commander of 23 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Amechi Agwu, has called for continued synergy among security agencies and the citizens in addressing security threats in Adamawa state.

The commander who undertook a three-day operational and familiarization tour of troops deployed across the state reaffirmed the army’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

In a statement made available to media practitioners in Yola, the brigade’s acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Adebayo Adewumi, said the move is geared towards bolstering security operations and enhancing civil-military relations across the state.

The tour, which spanned from May 23 to 25, 2025, was said to have seen the brigade commander visiting various deployment sites under the 232 Battalion and 23 Brigade Special Battalion, including Mubi, Maiha, Song, Garkida, Garaha, Uba, Hong, and Belel.

According to the statement, the commander conducted on-site evaluations of troop positions, focusing on their welfare, morale, and readiness.

Addressing soldiers in Mubi and Maiha, he emphasized discipline, professionalism, and strict adherence to military standards.

Tactical adjustments were also announced to have been made to improve the effectiveness of current defensive positions in Adamawa State.

In addition to operational assessments, the brigade commander extended his outreach to local communities by paying courtesy visits to several traditional leaders, including the Emir of Mubi, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmadu, the Emir of Maiha, Alhaji Ahmadu Sanda, the district head of Sorao, and the district head of Belel.

“During these engagements, Brig. Gen. Agwu, highlighted the vital role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and stability,” the statement said.

He was said to have also called for continued collaboration in addressing security threats and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

The traditional leaders lauded the brigade commander’s proactive leadership and reaffirmed their support for military operations.

They stressed the importance of sustained synergy between the military and local communities to ensure lasting peace and development.
