The Super Falcons of Nigeria have defeated Cote D’Ivoire 1-0 in the second leg of the Africa Cup Nations to qualify for the continental tournament in Morocco.
The Falcons in the first leg of the clash at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, won the game 2-0, courtesy of the goals scored by Ifeoma Onumonu.
According to records, Cote D’Ivoire stopped the Falcons from competing in the Olympic games in 2020 after the Nigeria female team lost to the Lady Elephants in the qualifiers.
In the build-up to the two-legged qualifying contest, soccer analysts predicted a tough tie for the Nigerian senior female team nevertheless, the Falcons have proven to be the better side as they scored three goals in both matches without conceding a goal.
This is a welcome development for the team and the Nigeria football governing body who will endeavour to capitalise on the successes recorded against the Lady Elephants to make the nation proud in Morocco.
