For the first time since the end of the emergency rule, Rivers governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule attended same event in Port Harcourt.
The occasion was the Thanksgiving church service to mark the beginning of 2025/26 legal year of the state judiciary which took place Friday at the Corpus Christi Cathedral along Kaduna Street.
Recall that during the celebration of Independence anniversary on October 1, the governor, his deputy, the State Chief Judge and few other personalities worshipped at St Pauls Cathedral, off Garrison in Port Harcourt to commemorate the event.
All members of the House of Assembly including the Speaker boycotted the event. The Speaker was rather holding another thanksgiving at a different church in his Obio/Akpor area.
