The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, has died at the age of 83 years.
The revered Yoruba monarch’s death took place on Friday, according to officials of the palace.
The remains of the Alaafin who died at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti have since been received by his first son, Prince Tunde, and other children at Idi-Igba, Oyo town on Saturday morning The Trumpet gathered.
Sources within the palace confirmed that traditional rites have since begun and formal burial arrangements are in top gear.

Oba Adeyemi is the longest-ruling monarch of the Kingdom having ruled 52 years before his death.
The late Alaafin whose favourite sport was boxing was born in 1939. He was from the Adeyemi branch of the Alowolodu royal family.
