Plateau state command of the Nigeria Police has confirmed the abduction of the District Head of Pushit, Mangu LGA of Central Plateau State, Chief Dikyet Gupiya.

Spokesman of the police command, ASP Gabriel Ogabah, made the disclosure to newsmen in a telephone interview Friday in Jos.

Mr. Ogabah, however, said police experts have been deployed in search of the abducted traditional rulers.

According to family sources, the district head of Pushit, Chief Dikyet Gupiya was whisk away by yet to be identified gunmen at about 9:00pm Thursday night.

The district head of Pushit, is the highest-ranking traditional ruler, where the deputy governor of Plateau state Prof Sonni Tyoden hails from.

Records indicate that, the abduction of Chief Gupiya is the third in series, occurring in Plateau state recently.

Recalled that, the paramount ruler of Pyem Chiefdom in Mangu LGA, Charles Mato Dakat was recently abducted late last year.

Similarly, the district head of Vwang, in Jos South LGA, Da Gyang Balat was also abducted early January this year, but was rescued after about 24 hours, sources said huge ransom was paid.
