Bournemouth has acquired Hungarian midfielder Alex Toth from Ferencvaros for £10.4 million.
The 20-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the club, which includes potential add-ons of £2.6 million for Ferencvaros and a 10% share of any future transfer fee.
Toth, who has nine caps for Hungary, was also a target for clubs like Benfica, Galatasaray, and Lazio.
“When I learned that AFC Bournemouth was interested in me, I felt excited and happy because this is a great club in the Premier League, the best league in the world,” Toth stated.
Having spent his entire club career in Hungary, Toth was on loan at Soroksar during the 2023-24 season.
He made his debut for Ferencvaros in December 2024 and has since played 52 matches for the league champions, scoring four goals.
Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s head of football operations, expressed enthusiasm about Toth’s potential, noting his experience competing at a high level in Hungary and Europe, and how he will continue to develop under coach Andoni Iraola.
Toth is Bournemouth’s third signing of the January transfer window, following goalkeeper Fraser Forster and defender Ade Solanke.

He is versatile, capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder or in a holding role, and has also played as a number 10.
His experience includes competing against top national teams like Portugal.
Despite not being as immediately recognized as other talents, Toth has worked hard to earn his place, demonstrating professionalism and character.
He has learned from Naby Keita at Ferencvaros and has benefited from the guidance of manager Robbie Keane.
Toth brings intensity and pressing ability, making him well-suited for the high-pressing style of football that Iraola promotes, particularly in the attacking third when possession is lost.
