Bournemouth has opened discussions to acquire Scottish winger Ben Doak from Liverpool.
The Reds are asking for £25 million for the 19-year-old, who is likely to be omitted from their squad for the Premier League season opener against Bournemouth on Friday.
Doak has attracted interest from other Premier League teams and the Portuguese club Porto, but Bournemouth is currently seen as the leading contender for his signature, according to various sources involved in the negotiations.
The forward, who has earned six caps for Scotland, spent the previous season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 appearances.

Since joining Liverpool from Celtic in 2022, he has made just 10 appearances for the club.
Bournemouth, having agreed to sell Dango Ouattara to Brentford for £42.5 million, is eager to negotiate a lower price for Doak.
The summer has been hectic for the Cherries, who have lost defenders Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen, and Milos Kerkez for a combined total of around £150 million.
Manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged that his team is “not where they want to be” ahead of their trip to Anfield but mentioned that “important movements” will occur before the transfer window closes on September 1.
