The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over 7.4 million people have registered online in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) program, which started on August 18.
Borno State is currently leading the way, with 783,546 people registering as new voters.
According to INEC’s latest update, by October 12, a total of 1,502,733 Nigerians had completed their voter registration, both online and in person, during the first seven weeks of the program.
Breaking down the numbers for online registrations, nearly 3.9 million (52.28%) were women, while about 3.5 million (47.72%) were men.
Additionally, more than 5 million of those who registered online were young people aged 18 to 34, which includes 1.9 million students and 168,680 individuals with disabilities.
In terms of state registrations, Borno tops the list, followed by Osun (632,751), Lagos (590,341), Kebbi (557,778), and Kaduna (471,375).

During the seventh week of the program, from October 6 to 10, a significant number of people completed their registrations: 878,715 filled out their forms online, while 674,018 registered in person.
Among those who completed their registration, women made up a majority with 55.14%, while men accounted for 44.86%.
Looking at occupations, students represented the largest group of registrants at 33.74%, followed by business owners (18.59%) and housewives (14.90%).
Additionally, 21,244 individuals with disabilities were successfully registered during that week.
Lagos State had the highest number of completed registrations that week, with 78,128, while Kano State followed closely with 82,703 and Oyo State with 43,165.
INEC also reminded that all forms of voter registration, both online and in person, are currently on hold in Anambra State until after the governorship election, which is set for November 8.
