The Borno State Government has commissioned two newly established schools in Konduga Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to restore education in communities affected by conflict.
The schools Dalori Junior Secondary School and the rehabilitated Kellumuri Community School were officially opened on Thursday during a ceremony led by the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, who represented Governor Babagana Zulum.
Gov. Zulum said the initiative aligns with his administration’s broader vision to revamp the state’s education sector and rebuild learning infrastructure in war-torn areas.
Dalori Junior Secondary School was constructed under the World Bank-supported Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment programme and is one of 35 similar projects statewide.
The school features 10 classrooms, solar power, and modern sanitation facilities.
In contrast, Kellumuri Community School was rebuilt by the state Ministry of Education on the site of a previously destroyed school.
It now boasts four blocks with eight classrooms, a perimeter fence, and a police post for security.

The school, according to the state government, will serve both primary and junior secondary students, with a transition pathway to senior secondary education in Bama.
As part of the launch, the ministry distributed 250 school bags, books, and other learning materials to pupils. A symbolic enrolment ceremony also marked the start of admissions.
The governor called on traditional leaders and stakeholders to encourage school enrolment, particularly for girls, in light of the new facilities.
The Education Secretary of Konduga Local Government Area, Bamala Galti, assured that teachers would be deployed immediately and classes would commence without delay.
He reaffirmed the local government’s full support for the schools.
