In a dramatic twist, Nigeria’s controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) custody, following an intense interrogation over an alleged N15 million bribe. This comes amid public uproar after a viral audio surfaced in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid the bribe to halt money laundering charges against him.
The social media sensation was apprehended late Thursday night at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight, en route to London. Shortly after his detention, Bobrisky shared with his millions of followers that he had sustained injuries during the arrest, fueling further controversy.
Transferred to the EFCC’s Abuja headquarters for questioning, Bobrisky faced intense scrutiny regarding accusations he paid off EFCC officials to dismiss his money laundering charges. The allegations stemmed from an audio clip posted by social commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, where Bobrisky purportedly admitted to bribing officials to the tune of N15 million.

However, Bobrisky strongly denied these claims. In an official statement at the EFCC headquarters, he refuted paying any bribe and challenged Otse to substantiate the recording.
An inside source confirmed Bobrisky’s stance, saying: “He denied everything about paying a bribe to any EFCC official. He firmly stated in his confession that the person who released the audio should come forward with proof. Bobrisky insisted no EFCC official demanded any money from him, nor did he offer one.”
