The peace of Chikakore community in the Kubwa area of Abuja, was shattered when 20 heavily armed bandits stormed the community, abducting five residents, including an entire family.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about11 pm, with the bandits forcing their way into homes and targeting specific residents.
Among those kidnapped were Adesiyan Akinropo, his wife, their son, and a visitor staying with the family. A neighbour was also taken, bringing the total number of victims to five.
A police source revealed that the bandits inflicted injuries on other victims during the attack. “They injured a woman on the head with the butt of a gun. She was bleeding profusely and had to be rushed to the hospital,” the source said.

The police were reportedly alerted, but their response was delayed. Residents said officers from the Byzahin division arrived an hour and a half after the assailants had fled.
Efforts to reach the FCT Police Command for comments were unsuccessful, as the spokesperson Josephine Adeh did not respond to calls.
Meanwhile, the community, still reeling from the attack is set to meet with police operatives today to discuss the way forward.
