At least eight persons have been kidnapped in Biresawa Village, located in the Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, after armed bandits invaded the community between 11 pm and midnight on Monday.
Sources indicate that six women and two men were taken, and their current location remains unknown.
A relative of some of the victims, Kabiru Usman, told newsmen that the attackers approached on foot from the nearby Tsundu Village, armed with firearms.
“They kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife, and two other women. We tried to intervene, but our weapons were insufficient,” he stated.
Residents had reportedly informed the police and military beforehand after receiving warnings about the bandits’ movements.
Other nearby communities, including Sarmawa, Yan Chibi, and Gano villages, were also targeted.
Around 50 bandits on motorcycles stormed Yan Chibi, firing shots into the air.

While no fatalities have been reported, over 10 people, primarily women, were abducted. Vigilante groups attempted to track the attackers but lost them as they fled into Katsina State.
The ongoing insecurity has compelled many families to leave their homes, seeking refuge in Faruruwa Town or moving to urban areas.
Residents are particularly anxious following attacks in the Shanono and Bagwai Local Government Areas.
Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, has not released a statement at the time of this report.
The incident is not the first in the state; just weeks ago, bandits kidnapped five women, including nursing mothers, in Yan Kwada Village, Faruruwa community, following a joint military operation that resulted in the deaths of 19 bandits.
