The Kaduna International Airport has been temporarily shut down following bandits attack, which left a staff of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) dead on Saturday.
The Trumpet learned that the gunmen stormed the airport from nearby bushes and took over the runway thus preventing a Lagos-board flight from taking off.
The incident which took place around 1:00 pm made staff and passengers scampered for their lives as the gunmen shot sporadically.
The Manager of the Airport, Mrs Amina Salami, confirmed the incident to newsmen.
She said the bandits invaded the airport through the perimeter fence from a nearby bush at about 1 pm on Saturday and started shooting sporadically to scare the workers.
She added that a security guard with NAMA, who was patrolling around the runway was shot dead by the bandits.

An eyewitness also told newsmen that a flight scheduled for 12:30 pm on Saturday could not take off. Adding that military officers have taken control of the airport.
“The aircraft which was billed to take off at 12.30 pm on Saturday could not because of the presence of the bandits around the runway of the airport.
”As I speak to you now, there is already military presence to beef up security, though most of the staff are scared with the killing of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) staff,” he said.
It was learnt that more than 10 military trucks have been deployed to the airport to reinforce the security network around the airport.
The Trumpet recalled that a year ago, bandits stormed the staff quarters located within the vicinity of the airport and kidnapped about 10 staff of FAAN and NAMA.
