Ten persons have been abducted by armed bandits during a late-night attack on two neighbouring villages in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Monday, saw the attackers raid Biresawa and Tsundu villages, taking away five residents from each community.
A relative of the victims, Kabiru Usman of Biresawa, told the trumpet that the bandits, who arrived on foot and armed with guns, operated unchallenged, noting that, they kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife, and two other women.
Usman said residents attempted to resist the attackers but were overpowered due to their superior weapons. “We tried to stop them, but our weapons were no match for theirs,” he added.
He revealed that the communities had earlier alerted security operatives after receiving intelligence that the bandits were approaching.

“Before the attack, we got a report that they were heading toward us. We notified both the police and the military because they gave us their numbers and asked us to call if we got any information,” he said.
Usman appealed to the government to act swiftly to secure the release of the victims, saying fear has engulfed the area following similar attacks on border communities.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, did not respond to calls place on his phone line by our reporter.
Bandit attacks have reportedly increased in Kano border communities in recent weeks, with many residents linking the surge to the recent peace deal involving bandits in Katsina state.
