The long-awaited 33KVA power extension project from Mutum Biyu through Yerima, Tella, and Gassol Town in Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency is making steady progress despite facing some setbacks, according to Samuel Bisong, the Taraba State Officer and Northeast Regional Coordinator of BudgiT Foundation.
Bisong revealed that the project, overseen by the National Rural Electrification Agency (NREA), was first captured in the 2023 Federal Government budget under the Ministry of Power. An initial N250 million was earmarked for the initiative in 2023, with an additional N100 million allocated in the 2024 budget.
Facilitated by the member representing Bali/Gassol Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, the electrification project is being executed by DHM Global Merchants Limited. On May 7, 2024, the contractor received a portion of the disbursed funds to advance the work.

During a site inspection on February 26, 2025, Bisong confirmed that transformers had already been supplied to Tuture, Bembel, and Tella. He further disclosed that the 33KVA power line had been successfully extended to several communities, including Mutum Biyu, Gunduma, Tuture, Bembel, and Mararaba Gassol.
However, Yerima remains without a transformer, a delay attributed to the ongoing Muslim Ramadan fast, which has slowed down construction activities. Despite this, Bisong assured that once completed, the electrification project will transform power access for residents and businesses, boosting economic growth across the constituency.
With increased government investment and community support, the Bali/Gassol power project is poised to deliver long-awaited electricity improvements, bringing hope to thousands who have endured years of unreliable power supply.
