Residents of the Azhata, Kurudu, and Orozo communities have alerted the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command to the growing presence of bandits and hooligans and have called on security agencies to take action to protect their neighbourhoods from criminals.
The residents claim that many criminals, including kidnappers and armed robbers who were driven out of other areas, have moved into Kurudu, Orozo, and the surrounding locations. This has led to an increase in break-ins and nighttime attacks on homes.
A resident of Azhata community reported seeing suspicious individuals acting strangely during the day, often claiming to be farmers or hunters.
These individuals have been spotted carrying weapons and seem to be watching the area for potential targets.
Another resident said that criminals had appeared in his neighbourhood a couple of weeks ago, but the local community watch managed to scare them off.
He noted that these intruders were heavily armed and urged the police to step up nighttime patrols for safety.
“When we were under the Jikwoyi Police Station, we had regular patrols at night,” Mike recalled.

“Now, under the new Kurudu Division, we ask the police to resume these night patrols to keep our community safe, as our local watch may not be able to handle serious threats.”
Another resident of Orozo community added that crime rates have been increasing in their area, with many people suffering from theft both during the day and at night.
He praised the efforts of the police and other security agencies in making other nearby communities safe, but emphasized that the criminals seem to be shifting their activities to Azhata, Kurudu, and Orozo.
He appealed for more police presence and regular patrols, urging officers to investigate suspicious individuals and address criminal hideouts proactively.
Also, he encouraged residents to stay alert and report any unusual activities to the police to help keep their community safe.
