Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has expressed himself after waking from an induced coma following a surgical procedure.
The 27-year-old player crashed into the goalpost during Forest’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City and attempted to carry on.
Subsequent examinations revealed his condition was severe, necessitating an urgent surgical procedure for a ruptured intestine.
Subsequently, Awoniyi was placed in an induced coma, from which he has fortunately emerged, and he is on the path to complete recovery, though it is quite improbable that he will participate in any remaining games this season.
The former Mainz 05 striker received an outpouring of encouragement from his teammates, former colleagues, coaching staff, club personnel, and supporters, all hoping for his return to the pitch in due time.
Awoniyi took to his Instagram to express gratitude to those who supported him and update them on his condition.
