The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), along with Prof. Charles Anosike, the Director General of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NiMET), Prof. Charles Anosike has been awarded the prestigious Excellence in Public Service Award by BusinessDay.
The national accolade honors public officials who demonstrate exceptional leadership, effective policy implementation, and impactful governance.
The award was presented by Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, during a grand ceremony on December 3rd, 2025, at The Blanc Event Hall in Abuja. Capt. Alex Badeh Jr., the Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), accepted the award on behalf of the Minister.
The 7th edition of the Excellence in Public Service Awards was attended by notable figures, industry leaders, and senior public sector officials, including former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who was represented by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.
Other distinguished awardees included Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, Amb. Yussuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Prof. Charles Anosike, the Director General of NiMET, among other outstanding leaders in public service.

In his speech, Frank Aigbogun, Publisher of BusinessDay, highlighted that the Excellence in Public Service Awards is an annual event that recognizes federal ministers, department heads, and agency leaders who show a strong commitment to responsible policy development, operational excellence, and extensive stakeholder engagement.
Aigbogun pointed out that the awards are unique because judges assess not only the accomplishments but also the methods used to achieve them, emphasizing the significance of transparency, collaboration, and sustainability.
He noted that during a time of economic difficulties and the national need to fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, many public officials, including this year’s awardees, have shown remarkable innovation, resourcefulness, and resilience in fulfilling their institutional responsibilities.
