The son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Abba Abubakar, has officially switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also, he has committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
This announcement was made on Thursday at the National Assembly in Abuja, where Abba was welcomed by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, along with other prominent APC leaders from the North-East.
During the event, Abba urged all members and coordinators of his previous political group, the Haske Atiku Organisation, to join the APC and contribute to Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He characterized his defection as both personal and historic.

“Today, I am leaving my former party to join the APC because I believe in the leadership style and vision here. I will work to support President Tinubu’s second term,” Abba stated.
APC leaders commended his decision, calling it courageous and significant.
Senator Barau described Abba as young, focused, and determined—qualities that Nigeria needs in its youth.
The party assured him of full rights and opportunities within the APC.
Abba’s political group has also been renamed the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, indicating a complete commitment to Tinubu’s re-election efforts.
