Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sorrow over the death of over 60 victims killed during a Boko Haram attack on the Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack, which took place on Friday evening, involved insurgents storming the area, setting homes ablaze, killing numerous residents and security personnel, and abducting an unknown number of villagers.
In a statement released on Sunday, Atiku denounced the attack as “senseless violence” and a stark reminder of the significant human toll of terrorism in Nigeria.
“I am profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of many lives, including brave soldiers, in the recent Boko Haram assault on Darajamal, Borno State.
“This senseless violence serves as a painful reminder of the heavy price our people continue to pay in the face of terror,” he stated.

The former vice president extended his condolences to the grieving families, the people of Borno, and Governor Babagana Zulum, commending the governor for his prompt visit to the community to offer support to the victims.
“My heartfelt sympathies go out to the bereaved families, the resilient people of Borno, and Governor Zulum, whose quick compassion in visiting the affected community is commendable.
“May Almighty Allah grant the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort their loved ones,” he added.
Atiku, also called on Nigerians to come together in the fight against terrorism.
“As a nation, we must unite to confront this threat with determination and solidarity.
“The sacrifices made by our soldiers and civilians should inspire stronger community security, deeper collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to peace,” he emphasized.
The killings in Darajamal have reignited calls for improved intelligence gathering, enhanced troop support, and stronger cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
