In a move aimed at expanding access to tertiary education in Taraba State, a philanthropist and House of Assembly aspirant, Adamu Nuhu, has sponsored the registration of over 60 indigenous secondary school students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination across Ibi Local Government Area.
The initiative, which beneficiaries described as timely and impactful, is part of what the aspirant said is his broader commitment to investing in the future of young people in his constituency.
Speaking during the registration exercise, Adamu explained that education remains the bedrock of development and a vital tool for breaking the cycle of poverty.
“This gesture is a symbol of my unwavering commitment to invest in the future of the children in our community,” he said.
“I believe that education is the bedrock of development. By empowering our students and ensuring our children have access to quality education, we are laying the foundation for a prosperous and sustainable future.”
Beyond the free JAMB registration, the aspirant also announced scholarship awards to six university students from Dampar in Ibi Local Government Area.

The beneficiaries are studying at the Taraba State University, Peacock College of Education, and Taraba State Polytechnic.
He noted that the scholarships were designed to ease the financial burden on families and create more opportunities for young people to pursue higher education.
Adamu urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and remain focused on academic excellence.
“The future belongs to those who work tirelessly to turn their dreams into reality,” he advised.
The gesture, as noticed by our correspondent, has continue to drawn commendation from parents and students across the area.
A parent of one of the beneficiaries, Rayyanu Adamu, expressed appreciation for what he described as a bold and compassionate intervention.
“We are eternally grateful to him for taking this bold decision to assist our children in their educational pursuit. We pray that Almighty Allah grants him success in his political journey,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Glory Bitrus, also lauded the initiative, describing it as a lifeline for students from poor and vulnerable backgrounds.
She said the free JAMB registration and scholarship support would significantly reduce the financial barriers that often prevent rural students from accessing tertiary education.
Observers say such interventions could help improve educational outcomes in Ibi LGA, where many families struggle with the rising costs of examination registration and tuition fees.
