Arsenal has granted goalkeeper David Raya an upgraded contract to emphasize his importance as one of Mikel Arteta’s key players.
Reports indicate that the Spain international has finalized terms on a deal that includes a salary increase from the contract he signed upon joining the club permanently in the summer of 2024.
It is believed that this agreement was reached earlier this summer, although the club has yet to make an official announcement.
Raya was reportedly earning £100,000 per week at the Emirates, but his wages have risen following the new agreement, while the duration of his contract is thought to remain unchanged.
His current contract is set to expire in 2028, but sources suggest there is an option to extend it.
In a similar move, Leandro Trossard also signed an improved contract earlier this summer without extending the length of his deal, which runs until 2027.
Since joining Arsenal from Brentford on loan in the summer of 2023, Raya has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in English football.
He won the Premier League’s Golden Gloves award in the 2023/24 season and retained the title last season, sharing it with Nottingham Forest’s Mats Sels.

Raya has proven to be an invaluable asset for Arsenal.
He has missed only six Premier League matches and has played every minute of top-flight football since March 2024.
Since making his debut in a 1-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park in September 2023, he has kept 33 clean sheets—six more than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.
His shot-stopping ability, once considered a weakness, has proven to be among the best, with a Premier League save ratio of 71%, surpassed by only three first-choice goalkeepers since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Raya holds the record for the longest time between conceding goals among goalkeepers, allowing just one goal every 114 minutes on average in the league.
